Сегодняшнее положение процессоров «Эльбрус»: взгляд практика

Наткнулся в комментариях под видеозаписью выступления своего коллеги Андрея Савченко у Максима Горшенина на ссылку как бы на аналитику с причитаниями выводами «всё плохо на этом вашем эльбрусе».

Почитал, вздохнул, решил написать с точки зрения практика не комментарий, но ответ, в некоторой мере стилизовав его под пародию и тем не менее всерьёз. В конце концов, к фронтовому сетевому новостному агентству ANNA-News тоже имею отношение.

    It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the need for Elbrus microprocessors. These are not to be really Desktop machines to be honest (but can be in a Linux environment). But this is clearly for HPC development. And what is funny is that is the field where AMD and Intel actually make their money. Desktop field they barely break even.

    Its tough that yes, you cannot really just go out and buy a Elbrus PC at the moment, but there is more or less reason to that — Low Production output due to demand being very specific to the ministry of Education, Military, etc.

    Don’t know why this is beyond some people. Common sense is an oxymoron.

        Does MCST/Ineum plan to change that though?

        Because I would be interested in purchasing a machine for sure.

          They do AFAIK -- just not everything depends on them.

          We help them through the process with what we can, of course, having 20+ years of free software development and publishing experience (the software-related NDA is probably the worst culprit at the moment).
