And the basis of Chinese components in its supercomputers are? Intel. China’s major super computers all use Intel processors. Loongsong processors are rarely used, maybe one supercomputer. All it is, is a licensed MIPS processor. MCST can do the same with its VLIW processor, hence the Elbrus 8C. Russia has had its own processors for far longer than China and still designs it. Angstrom produces processors up to 65nm topology.

To say Russia will be decades behind the west in technology is a simple concept. You guys are trying to play catchup. Which is stupid. You need to come with technologies that fit for your guys, not to compete. Which, in this case, you guys already do. many of you look at it at basic consumer knowledge, and they keep telling you how «far» behind you are. You guys jumped to 28nm processors in a shorter time than anyone. Didn’t take MCST long as they use an already proven architecture (only VLIW processors with performance to back it, unlike Intel Itanium series) and reduced the size of the transistors and added other functions like a DDR3 memory controller. At this point, MCST has a processor capable of competing with AMD.

West countries don’t even use western FAB’s anyway. All either use an Intel FAB located in Asia or TMSC which is located in Taiwan.
